This page is short, and short is what an honest new page looks like. Anything that appears here will be a real customer describing one job done through The Honest Plumber Marylebone, and nothing else.
Why We Left It Empty
Plenty of firms open with a column of glowing quotes on day one. Reviews cannot arrive that fast, and a page that pretends otherwise has told you something about how the firm treats facts. The Competition and Markets Authority treats fake and incentivised reviews as an unfair practice, and we would rather be thin and true.
What Will Appear Here
Each review will be tied to a real job and a real part of the patch, with the date and the kind of work. Good, bad or lukewarm, it goes on the page as written.
Reviews Are Receipts, Not Decoration
A review should trace back to something that happened. A pump replaced in a Fitzrovia flat, a cistern fixed in a Mayfair mews house, a basement drain cleared in Marylebone: these are checkable. A review that says only "brilliant service" is not.
Reading Between the Stars
Look for a fault, a place and a date. Look for whether the quote matched the final bill, and whether the fault stayed fixed. Plumbing is a trade where a repair can look perfect for a week.
No Reward, No Nudge
Nobody gets a discount, a free visit or a gift for leaving a review, and nobody who stays silent pays more. We ask afterwards how it went, and that is all.
What You Can Check Right Now
Take every review off a plumbing website and there is still plenty to verify yourself.
- A phone that answers at every hour: 07782 221769, including bank holidays
- A real address: 2 Bentinck St, London W1U 2FA, on a Georgian street between Hinde Street and Welbeck Street
- A written quote from the partner company before any work begins
- Local facts you can test: pages on Fitzrovia, Mayfair and St John's Wood that you can compare with your own street
Why Judging a Repair Takes a Winter
Thames Water's supply is hard, with a 2025 figure of 266 mg/l for the nearest published zone, so scale returns. A boiler pump that runs fine in August is tested in January. This is why we value a review written months after the visit more than one written the next morning, and why we take a faulty repair seriously when it returns. See emergency boiler repair for how we think about repair against replacement.
One Question for Every Firm
Whoever you ring in W1, ask three things: who will turn up, whether the quote is in writing before work starts, and what happens if it goes wrong. Our answers are on how we work. Browse the services, read about us or go back to the home page.
Good Questions
Why is this page empty?
Because a new service has no reviews yet, and the honest thing is to leave it that way. We will not write testimonials, copy them from elsewhere or ask friends to leave five stars. When a real customer describes a real job, it will appear here with the area and the kind of work. Until then, this page tells you how to test us.
Will you ever pay or reward people for reviews?
No. Nobody receives a discount, a free visit or a gift for leaving a review, and nobody who stays silent pays more. Rewarded reviews mislead readers, and consumer protection rules in the UK treat fake or incentivised reviews as unfair practice. A review that costs us nothing and earns the customer nothing is the only kind worth reading.
How will you make sure reviews are genuine?
Each one will relate to a real job in a real part of the patch, such as a pump in Fitzrovia or a basement drain near Portland Place, and we will be able to match it to a call. We will not edit a review to make it kinder or cut out the awkward parts. If a customer is unhappy and says so, that goes on the page too.
Who did the work I would be reviewing?
An independently owned local partner company. We take the call, match the job, text you the company's name and chase the job if something goes wrong. The partner quotes, does the work, invoices you and takes payment directly. A fair review therefore says something about both the call and the partner company that attended. We will say which is which.
What can I check about you today without reviews?
Quite a lot. The number, 07782 221769, answers at every hour. The address, 2 Bentinck St, London W1U 2FA, is a real Georgian street in W1. The partner company gives a written quote before any work, and you can test our local detail against your own street. If any of those fail, trust your instincts and ring someone else.
Can I leave a review after a job?
Yes, and we would welcome it. Tell us how it went by phone or form, and say what area it was in and what type of job it was. The more specific it is, the more useful it is to the next person. Good or bad, we will publish it with your first name or initial only, never your address.
How should I read other firms' perfect ratings?
With a little scepticism. A burst of five-star reviews within days, from accounts with no other history, or praise that never names a place or a fault, is a warning. Read the three-star reviews first, since they tend to be the most honest. Look for specifics: the fault, the area, the date and whether the quote matched the invoice.
What would a good review of a boiler job look like?
It names the fault, such as a lockout or lost pressure, says how long the visit took and whether the quote was given in writing before work started. It also says whether the fault stayed fixed. In a hard-water area like W1, a repair may look fine for a week and fail again, so a review from months later is worth more than one from the next day.
Why do you not show a star rating?
Because a rating with no reviews behind it is not a rating, it is decoration. When real reviews arrive, we will show them as written rather than reduce them to a number. We will also show the date. A single glowing review proves little, and a score built from two reviews would suggest a certainty that does not exist.
What if I have a complaint rather than a review?
Raise it with the partner company first, since it carried out the work and is best placed to fix it. If you cannot reach a resolution, ring 07782 221769 and we will chase it for you. Keep the written quote, photographs and texts. Complaints are not hidden or answered with a discount offer, and your statutory rights are unaffected.
